Disney Dreamlight Valley is a life-simulation adventure game developed and published by Gameloft in collaboration with Disney and Pixar Games.1 Players restore a valley inhabited by Disney and Pixar characters, uncovering story-driven quests along the way.2 It entered paid early access on 6 September 2022 across PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.1

Gameplay

The game mixes life-sim systems with adventure-style exploration and quests: players build and customize a neighborhood with landscaping and decorative items, and take part in activities such as gardening, cooking and fishing alongside characters from Disney and Pixar films.2

Development and release

Dreamlight Valley left early access with its full launch on 5 December 2023.3 Notably, Gameloft dropped the game's originally planned free-to-play model at that point, announcing it would "remain a paid game for the foreseeable future."3 A separate Arcade Edition launched the same day on Apple Arcade, bundling the A Rift in Time expansion and omitting the seasonal Star Paths and Premium Shop.4

Reception

The game's early-access launch across every major platform made it one of the most visible entries in the post-pandemic cozy games wave, bringing Disney and Pixar's catalogue into the valley-building formula popularized by Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Stardew Valley.
