A Little to the Left is a cozy puzzle game about sorting, stacking and organizing household items into pleasing arrangements — while keeping an eye out for a mischievous cat with a taste for chaos.1 It was developed by Max Inferno and published by Secret Mode, launching on PC and Mac on 8 November 2022 with the Nintendo Switch version a day later.12

Gameplay

The game offers more than 100 tidying puzzles built on playful, intuitive interactions — straightening picture frames, ordering books, aligning stationery — with multiple valid solutions for many arrangements.1

Development and release

Max Inferno is an indie studio based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, formed in 2021 by Annie Macmillan and Lukas Steinman; Daniel Crane later joined as technical lead.3 After the PC and Switch launch, the game reached Xbox and PlayStation consoles on 15 February 2024 — day one on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass4 — then iOS on 9 October 2024 and Android on 28 November 2024.56

The Cupboards & Drawers DLC (June 2023) added over 25 levels, alongside free seasonal event levels; a second expansion, Seeing Stars, followed.7

Reception

Publisher Secret Mode marked a playful 999,999-sales milestone on the game's first anniversary in November 2023,7 and announced it had passed one million copies sold in January 2024 — about 14 months after launch.4 Its success alongside Unpacking established "tidying games" as a recognizable corner of cozy gaming.
