Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone has kept Stardew Valley growing through major free updates since its 2016 launch. The milestones below are the ones documented by the developer's own announcements.
Major updates
| Version | Date | What it did |
|---|---|---|
| 1.0 | 26 February 2016 | Initial Windows release1 |
| 1.5.5 | 30 November 2021 | Migrated the game from XNA (targeting .NET Framework 4.5.2) to MonoGame (targeting .NET 5), which Barone described as futureproofing the game and letting mods access more than 4 GB of RAM2 |
| 1.6 | 19 March 2024 | Major free content update, released first on PC3 |
| 1.6.9 | 4 November 2024 | Brought the 1.6 update to consoles and mobile3 |
Notes
The 1.6 update arrived roughly eight years after launch — part of why the game passed 50 million copies sold by its ten-year anniversary in February 2026.3
