**Ooblets** is a farming, town-life and creature-collection game by Glumberland — the two-person team of Rebecca Cordingley and Ben Wasser.[^1][^2] Players manage a farm, grow and train small creatures called ooblets, and settle disputes with dance-offs instead of battles.[^1] It launched in paid early access on 15 July 2020 and reached 1.0 on 1 September 2022.[^3][^4] ## Gameplay The player builds up a farm at a relaxed pace, explores strange lands around the town of Badgetown, and collects ooblets by growing them from crops. Confrontation is replaced with card-based dance battles.[^1] ## Development and release Glumberland built its audience unusually early: the duo shared development GIFs publicly for years and ran a Patreon that had nearly 200 supporters by early 2017.[^2] In July 2019 the studio announced a PC launch-exclusivity deal with the Epic Games Store, writing candidly that Epic's upfront minimum guarantee matched their expected sales and removed the financial risk of the game failing.[^5] Early access began on 15 July 2020 via the Epic Games Store and Xbox One Game Preview, priced at $24.99 (with a launch-week discount).[^3] The 1.0 release arrived on 1 September 2022, the same day the game came to Nintendo Switch,[^4] with Xbox Series X|S also covered at 1.0.[^6] Ooblets finally reached Steam on 5 October 2023 — its first availability outside Epic on PC.[^7][^1] ## Reception The game is built in Unity.[^2] Its dance-battle twist on the [[Stardew Valley]]-style farm loop and its pastel wobbliness made it a fixture of [[cozy-game|cozy]] round-ups through its long, public development. ## External links - [Official website](https://ooblets.com) - [Steam page](https://store.steampowered.com/app/593150/) [^1]: Valve.
