For a quiet game about boxes, [[Unpacking]] collected a remarkable amount of hardware.

## BAFTA Games Awards 2022

At the ceremony on 7 April 2022, Unpacking won **EE Game of the Year** — the only award voted for by the British public — and the BAFTA for **Narrative**.[^1][^2]

## The first-year tally

On the game's first anniversary (2 November 2022), Humble Games and Witch Beam announced it had won **20 awards** and earned **50 nominations** in its first year, alongside passing one million copies sold worldwide.[^3]

## Early momentum

The game sold over 100,000 copies in its first ten days — the start of the word-of-mouth run that carried it to awards season.[^4]
